Cultivating Calm during Chaos

Unless you're living under a rock, you know what's happening with this whole Rona thing. Heck, even if you live under a rock, they prolly got it over there too. I'll be the first to admit that I took this thing asa joke, and as something that would have no impact on my personal life. Now I am blessed to say that the impacts are not that bad i my life, but that's always subject to change. After about a week of staying home and thankfully, working remotely, it started sinking in, and I honestly started to loose my mind.

My feelings were getting the bets of me, and panic was setting in. This was abnormal. Sitting at home 24/7, with the news playing in the background, ringing the death-toll up. At some point, I realized this was not going away and I had to face it. Here are some steps I took to create peace.

1. Look at the situation objectively: Yes, working from home is new. Yes, being confined feels very strange. Yes, there is uncertainty lingering. But: I am home. With my family. We are healthy. We have food in the house. I still have a job. Worries are minimal. Not everyone can say that. In no way do I minimize the panic and stress this can cause, but in understanding that things could be better, I also understand that they could be worse.

2. Find things that bring me joy: Naturally having this all this extra time with myself felt a bit strange. I am accustomed to being on the go. This time at home allows me to learn a new skill or build on one you've been neglecting. I started journalling again, practicing yoga, doing my home workouts and learning more about financial freedom.

3. Get connected: Before this whole virus thing, I was pretty distant from my loved ones. Now that there's so much loss, pain and uncertainty, we need to lean on each other. In this era of technology, there's a multitude of ways to get in touch. Video call loved ones to share a smile.

4. Pray: This is one is the most important for me. In times like this, and I hope at all times, tuning in to your higher power is so important. To have no idea of what's happening, how to cope, and what to expect, the bets thing is to surrender. I find a great deal of peace, in knowing that everything will work according to his will. Submitting to that, allows me the peace to accept whatever comes my way.

What are some things you're doing to stay safe?
